Village and big city

The old part of Valby has a quite unique village like atmosphere, which in many ways has been incorporated in the new neighbourhood around Grønttorvet. The community is in focus. Green areas and joint activities give you a special identity when you live in Valby.

You get a nice feeling of being a little off grid without missing out on anything the pulsating big city has to offer. Everything is within biking range.

Grønttorvet

Filippa Haven draws its name from a beautiful and delicious apple – just like many of the roads in the area. Up until the mid 00’s Grønttorvet was the daily marketplace for fruit, vegetables and flowers. Every morning this was where more than 2700 dealers from Copenhagen, Sealand and Sweden went to get fresh apples and others fruit as well as all sorts of vegetables.

Grønttorvet had been steadily growing since 1958 and in the end it got to big for Valby and was moved to Høje Tåstrup. This left space for the many new residential buildings paying tribute to the neighbourhood history.

Nature and shopping

Valby is one of the greenest parts of Copenhagen. In Valbyparken you will find both wild landscapes and areas with well-kept park, wood and impressive tematic gardens.

This is also the site of the largest nature playground in Denmark, a frisbeen facility and a café during the summer months. – If you like to go shopping the area around Valby Station is buzzing with people and exciting boutiques as well as small cafés and restaurants.

And if you want it all under one roof Spinderiet is the shopping mall for you. The atmosphere is always nice with a lot of activities for both children and adults.
